Peregrine is a publication for the conscious traveler. The magazine concept is inspired by and a collaboration with sustainable and health oriented businesses, showcasing rich cultural destinations with a socially responsible outlook. In order to further differentiate itself from the myriad of travel magazines, Peregrine releases quarterly and is dedicated to a region or topic per edition, in order to give a savorfull portrayal. Here, I showcase the Baja and California spreads, along with a few other worldly magazine covers up top.
Appealing to the socially responsible and somewhat budget conscious, it was important the style of the magazine had appealing imagery paired with modern and trustworthy fonts. Trendy is not the goal, but established and respected is. The Garamond family, an old-school reliable serif, along with the wide array of designs in the modern Akzidenz Grotesk typeface, lent themselves as a successful pairing as the main typefaces for the publication in order to accomplish this goal.

Encouraging trust and dependability as a travel consultant was my main goal for the masthead or logo of this magazine as well as the organized and almost comforting predictability of the gridded cover design.
A variety of spreads were selected to illustrate how the chosen typefaces for headings interact with the tone of each article – some louder and more adventurous, while others more segmented and mature. Additionally, having use of repetition of style and treatment in the sections provides the reader with direction and branding.
